Domaine la Colombette, Sauvignon

€12.99

Domaine la Colombette, Sauvignon is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.

Another really beautiful, charming and fresh, light, almost delicate white, from one of France's more overlooked regions, this is a gorgeous version of Sauvignon Blanc that is neither too austere as some from the Loire can be, nor too intense in the vein of the New World. This is full of apple, nettle and blossom flavours, this is like a glass of sunshine and is excellent with or without food.

Made in the Libron valley just outside the city of Beziers in the bit between Languedoc and Roussillon, that is Hérault, this is made by the zany, dedicated and wonderfully charismatic (not to mention talented) Pugibet family. They gently work away at a wide array of varieties and produce delightful wines in an array of styles. Whites from red grapes, roses and blends of the lot of them - never over the top, never too lean, and always representative of the varying soil types that they have at their disposal. In fact, it is this adherence to the capability of each vineyard plot that drives their wine making philosophy - respect what each parcel can bring to each variety and then don't muck it up in the winery. This is the way (as the Mandalorian would say).

The logo on the label (not that it matters) is rather lovely too - it's a homage to the name of the Domaine, which means Little Dove, and it's a vision of the dove in flight, in gold, which is nice.

It's also another one noteworthy of very moderate alcohol level. Delicious.

Delicious and interesting range of wines delivered promptly to my door. Not far off that lovely feeling of coming back laden from a good wine store but without any of the traffic or the worry of breaking the wine en route (very impressive travel wrap).
