Paco and Lola, Albariño

€19.99

This is a gorgeous white from the best-selling Galician winery in Ireland. Full of peach, apple and apricot flavours with pink grapefruit acidity, it is fresh and crisp with a gorgeous fleshy mouthfeel to balance. Excellent with seafood and sunshine. Very tasty without either...

Paco & Lola is a modern winery producing high quality wines starting from a slightly different set of blocks: originally a collective of business managers who were carrying out work for grape growers, the project has seen them become one of the most successful producers of Albariño wine in the world. Quite staggeringly, the winery was only founded in 2005, but such has the success of their vision been that there are now more than 400 families from the Salnés Valley in the umbrella, making it the largest cooperative in Rías Baixas. Their success is certainly rooted in the quality of the vines, but there is certainly a lot to be said for iconic packaging - Paco & Lola might not trip off the tongue in all markets, but the wine with the dots? that's got to be distinctive wherever you go.

Delicious and interesting range of wines delivered promptly to my door. Not far off that lovely feeling of coming back laden from a good wine store but without any of the traffic or the worry of breaking the wine en route (very impressive travel wrap).
